hello. rebuilding carbs and the time came to replace the fuel lines, but i think i might have bought a size too large. i read somewhere that Evinrudes typically take 3/4'' line, but mine seems a little loose- doesn't fit snug on the nipple. are they intended to be tightened down via clamps? or do i need a smaller size?
thanks!

Well, first of all, Evinrude doesnt "typically" use any specific line. The fuel line is different for different horsepower, and different systems. Did the old lines have any markings on them as to what size they were? It should say it. Im thinking yours would be more like 1/4", 5/32" or maybe even 3/8" as stated above.

For a 1972 Evinrude 50HP, 1/4" diameter fuel line seems sufficient and most likely correct. 3/4" fuel line would be okay if you were fueling a 800HP fire-breathing fuel injected rocket. WOW, it you would do the math and see the true flow calculations for 3/4" fuel line you couldn't ever fill the tank if that size engine was running...

oh man sorry, guys! there was a typo in my original post. meant to say 1/4" line, not 3/4".. yeah that would be huge for my engine! not trying to lay the Alaskan pipeline on my carbs or anything.

it looks like 5/32 is my size, or 3/8 if need be.
thank you for the responses.

Yea omc likes that 5/32" which is annoying because you can only find it at a marina.

got it knocked out. took both 1/8 and 1/4, depending on which line needed replacing. both worked perfectly.
thanks!
