Gas out my exhaust

Hey all,

71' 70 horse 707HD
I had gas coming out of my exhaust when priming my motor after making a gear shift adjustment today. I knew immediately suspected I had a ruptured fuel pump diaphragm as this had happened before. I discovered a minor rip in the diaphragm...

anything else I should look for that could have been causing this?

She still fired right up, but died shortly after in idle.

So i changed out the gasket today and it seems to be running well..

Does it matter if I go pump, gasket, diaphragm, engine? or should the gasket and diaphragm be siwtched? ANother post in this forum said it didn't matter.. I'd just like another opinion.

After I started it today, it died shortly after, then I started it againa nd it seemed to run just fine, switched into forward and reverse very well.

Could not find a diagram of a fuel pump for your engine. Only one I could fine was this one. Hopefully it will be of some help.
