After running my Motor 1988 6cyl 2 stroke 115hp I tilt the motor back up to its park position and gas pours out of the carbs, is there a way to prevent this should there be a fuel cut off switch I can operate and then run the motor until all gas is used up.

sounds like a Mercury, should be a quick connect at the motor, disconnect before tilting. some will still run out, the motor should be stored in the down position.

Yes it is a Mariner, no quick connect, is there a reason for storing in down position?

Same question. Mine does also, it's a '87 60hp merc. It does have a quick connect. Wish i had the answer for you.

And storing motor down, does that mean when you get home and put away, take transom saver off and store down?

I also premix my fuel and thought I read on here not to run out of gas if you mix. No gas = no lube.

Yes, mercury and mariner side bowl carbs are especially touchy about being level. Tilt them and gas will undoubtedly drain out of them. Most even have a baffle under the cowl to drain that fuel out of the leg. As for running the motor dry, I usually disconnect the fuel line right before i load on the trailer. I have plenty of fuel to load up the boat and then i let it run until the first stall. There is still some residual fuel in the bowls but not as much.

In regards to storing the motor in the down position. Yes - I get home, park the boat, prop up the bow, remove the transom saver, and lower the motor. Fortunately, I store my boat on a raised patio, so I can get the motor pretty much all the way down without digging it into the ground. If stored tilted upward, water will not properly drain, and with outside winter storage, that could lead to a cracked gearcase.
