Well, there's not much we can do about the gas prices except gripe, so here goes:

$1.98 in some places in S. Oregon for super.
What is it in your areas?

The thing that chaps my backside is the fact that most of our oil on the West coast (if not all) comes from Alaska and not over seas. So I'm told anyways...

Maybe we can rally a gas sit-out for a week or two. Hard to do yes, but I'd like to see what happens if we did!

H.

Homerr, it's at 1.50 a gallon here in Kentuck for regular unleaded and 1.70 for super.
Nothing we can do about it.
They use the threat of war for the reason to gouge us.

In New Zealand it's NZD 1.20 per litre which at current exchange rate of 0.56 = USD 0.67 per litre
= USD 2.55 per gallon  - that's a lot more than you are paying....

Re: Gas prices in your area

ok guys dont get me started it was 84 cents a litre if my math is correct its about 3 .10 a gallon. I have always said it conspiracy. Most governments recieve huge $ from the tax on gas which in most cases is a % of sale so as gas goes up so does the tax collected. as far as I am concerned its all a scam if I ran my affairs like the government I would be in jail for fraud or something similar. MAN!!!! heres is one to make you sick when gas is 22 a barrel the price at the pumps is 52 cents at 26 a barrel its 84 cents now iM no rocket scientist but does the math make sense NOPE!!!! the fact is that exxon and mobile control 90% of the gas in our countries so we are all getting hosed. Do you think they care ?? why would they care IF you protest whats the difference because really no matter which pump you fill up in its their gas oH man I could go on for hours about this topic and the million other consumer fleecing items that the corporations and the government do to us all but my fingers are sore

Least expensive super in town is $1.73 at Sams as of Wednesday...

Worst I've seen so far is $2.09 for super at a Shell station...

It's only going to get worse boys...

The Bicycle is starting to look like a viable alternative... Guess I better pump up the tires on it.. :(

Was $1.39 two weeks ago at my last fillup now it's $.20 more $1.59 and at some places a little more. Not sure what anything but regular unleaded costs as that is all I can afford. I am looking at using the pontoon sparingly when I get it back up and running and using the canoe a lot. Paddle Power ahead especially if the prices continue to go up at the rate they have.

With the bigger vehicles we Americans drive compared those "all look alike little road buzzers" that most Europeans drive ,European prices here would hurt more.Mileage wise ,we're currently just about in the same situation.

Anyway , gas prices here in south Texas are
87-$1.59
89-&1.69
93-$1.79

don't cry to much.. in the late 80's & early to mid 90's,, we had those 'SAND RATS' right where we wanted 'em ... they were hurtin'.. we were drivin' smaller & more eco cars & trucks..gas prices fell,an stabilized..

then we started gettin' cocky.. times where good.. the deficit was down.. we wanted our 'BIG MACHINES' back..

HELLO..we got what we wanted...

This is my first posting to your site.

I am from the United Kingdom the land of the taxed.

A gallon of petrol costs about $5.31 (US Dollars). I beleive about 70% of the price is tax and duty. The goverment thinks it has found a product that it can tax to the hilt and people will still buy it as they do not want to give up their motor cars. As a result we all drive around in small buzz boxes. About 40% of new cars sold now are Diesel. Diesel may not be much cheaper but you do get better mpg.

On your site I also found a Garmin MAP76 GPS at under half the price sold in the UK.

When can i come and live in your country.

Ian

Re: Gas prices in your area

Our gas prices are 88.9 cents/liter (89 octane) now and are expected to reach $1. liter soon because of the Iraq crisis and a Venezuelan oil workers strike(?)... whatever. 88.9 x 4.54 = $4.03 gallon. Oh, our drunken driver premier just announced another 3.5 cent/liter road tax effective May 1st. When will it end? It's very expensive to go boating these days, taxes are taking away my freedom.

$1.74/gal for regular...$1.89 for super here in Fond du Lac....still aint bad enough to whine about yet...in 1980 I worked as a cashier in a filling station, that summer premium topped at $1.33 a gallon...22 years later, 56 cents...nope, still not bad enough to whine....

Name brand regular was $1.62 per gallon here yesterday, with a 10 cent bump for each higher octane. From what I can read, there is no economic justification yet for these kind of increases, just opportunistic price gouging. I remember back in 1974, during the great gas shortage, we were attending a seminar with a Gulf Oil petroleum engineer. He just laughed at our complaints and told us " Don't worry, boys. There will be plenty of gas when the price gets up to $1.00 a gallon". He was right.

Re: Gas prices in your area

Gas prices for ethanol gas for regular were $1.23 a gallon about a month ago. Today they are $1.57

Non-ethanol gas seems to be from ten cents to 30 cents higher a gallon depending on the brand, for some reason. It is what I use in my outboard, but my Jeep is less picky and will drink anything, almost! I have over 200k miles on it, with no troubles, and I ain't about to start spoiling her now!
