Gas storage question

The pic below show my gas tanks on my Gypsy 15
. I know they are safe but, the battery sits there to the left, I would like to move it away from the tanks, probably up front under the seats. I would like to turn the tanks 90 degrees so they fit better under the shelf and perhaps build doors top to bottom, to hide and protect them.

Would this be a wise move? Should I have some kind of fan, just in case of a leak?

Lonepiper you shouldn't need a fan , you have the area wide open allready . Moving the battery / batteries forward and to port would help . I followed Mark42's lead and moved my gas up front and there is a big difference in the boats ride. With your boat the batt. would probably be easier . Turning the tanks shouldn't be a problem - I'd begin using the starboard one first to aid ballance as the gas is used . Oh and check with the guru's on the electrical forum - you may need to increase the guage of the cables to the motor to hold enough power over the length . peter

I think if you close in the area with doors it would be a good idea to have a blower in there.
or big vents at the very least
