gas tank area drainage question

This forum is awesome. I am replacing the deck of my 19' Caravelle. Drained and pulled the gas tank to see what caused the rot in the first place. Gas tank on this boat is in middle of hull between inboard engine and ski locker.

There is a flat area in the bottom of the boat which the gas tank sits on. Would it help drainage, etc. if I added some small ridges to give a small amount of air circulation under the gas tank? Looks like it would stay wet if and when water gets in. Thanks for all help or ideas.

Re: gas tank area drainage question

if you have enough clearance, i have suggest using some of the new PVC 1x4 lumber spaced apart to support the tank.

I just asked this too. Check out my Q on Aluminum tanks and water for a good link on this.

Might it make sense to assemble a FAQ of common questions here for easy access?

It should even be possible in today's age for us to do a collaborative wikiweb of boat knowledge....
