Gas tank not registering

My 22 foot Glastron sunk on me several years ago. Broken transmission boot allowing water in. After completely restoring any damages I found that the fuel gauge always read full. The boat has a 43 gallon tank and because its always full I never have to put gas in it (ha). Seriously, what can i do short of removing tank because that can't be done now? any ideas as to why it does't work or how to fix? Thanks

Remove one of the leads from the sending unit, does this make the gauge drop? If no, it is in the wiring or the gauge. Take the "s" wire loose from the gauge, does it drop? If so it is the wiring; no, it is the gauge. The sending unit or gauge can be easily purchased and replaced. The wiring isn't too bad usually, depending on the routing.
