I have a plastic in-hull gas tank that I am having some problems with. Where the pick-up mount and the sending unit mount, mounted on top of the gas tank are not sealing properly. The mounts are metal and the gas tank is plastic. With a full tank gas leaks through and out of these mounts. I have tried cork with gas resistant sealant and still leaks out through the between these mounts and the tank. Is there something I can put around these mounts while already on the tank that is gas resistant to seal this up. I am lost on how to seal these units...what is the best way to seal metal mounts onto a plastic tank?

Is the fuel tank plastic or fiberglass?

I would remove the mounts, clean the tank and mounts "sealing surfaces" really well (make sure there nice and smooth) and try a rubber gasket with automotive rtv sealant (I like the orange stuff). Also make sure the tank is venting properly so it's not building up pressure and forcing gas out.
