Gas Tank Sealer

I have been having problems with my fuel gauge for some time now and I was finally able to access my gas tank and check out the sending unit. I was able to get it working but I am concerned about the seal on the tank now.

The sending unit is at the top and has a rubber gasket below the metal plate of the unit that seals the tank. There are 5 screws that tighten the whole thing down. I have never had any problems with water getting inside but I am wondering if there is some sort of sealant that I should put around the gasket to add some extra protection.

Any ideas?

A gasket in good condition is sufficient.

Thank you! That is what I thought but I wanted to make sure.

X2 on the gasket only. You also don't want any of that old sealer falling in your tank the next time you remove the sender. ;)
