Hi,

I have a small 3 gallon gas tank I am, using for my 9.5 Johnson. The other day after a "put" around the pond I grabbed the tank and stored it under my deck as usual. The next morning the tank was wet and so was the area around it. Taking off the cap release pressure and I was wondering if I have a vent problem. The tanks vent has this thing that looks like a black knob, but I can't seem to turn it. Should there be pressure?

Thanks,

-Forrest

They aren't supposed to release pressure so what you describe is normal. They only vent as in bringing air into the tank so you don't build a negative pressure as your engine draws gas. Best of luck. Rick.

yeah i know that type of vent...if im thinking of the same type they're those newfangled ones...garbage. If the lack of venting is causing your motor to run improperly, simply remove the cap completely (make sure not to get any water in there of course). If this fixes the issue, simply get a new cap that vents better.

Looks like this. Vent to the right of handle, not in the cap.

If the pressure (expanding) is meant to be there, then perhaps my hoses, connection are weak.
