My gas tank has three hoses attached to it. The filler hose, the vent hose that comes out the side of the boat if you overfill your tank, and another one which a previos owner has blocked with a plug. What's the third one for? It doesn't look like it's supposed to be like this.

Re: Gas tank

1. Filler hose: where gas gets poured into the tank

2. Vent hose: A small vent exists on the side of the boat that goes to my tank to vent the tank. I once overfilled the tank and gas also come out from there.

3. another hose: 6" length blocked with a screw
( this hose looks like it went somewhere and was cut off)

All on the same spot on my internal gas tank below my deck on a 16' open deck boat with 3.0 OMC cobra.

Re: Gas tank

Can you get to your fuel sending unit?If ya can remove the screws(5 or 6 of them) look inside and see if there is a hose going to bottom of tank,The spout with a hose INSIDE goes to your carb. You can confuse the vent for your main fuel line as they are about the same size.Obviously you know the filler is the largest.

Re: Gas tank

Did the boat once have a kicker? 4 strokes sometimes are fed from the main tank, especially when they do a lot of trolling with them.
