hey guys I have to 6 gallon removable plastic tanks in my boat an I have noticed that the motor stops getting gas and dies when it seems like there has to still be around a gallon of gas in the bottom of the tank. I was just wondering if there is any way I can solve this issue. I know there is always going to be some gas left in the bottom it just seems like there is more then there should be.

I suppose you could extend the pickup tube a tad. But there is usually some fuel left. Are you sure it's a gallon? A couple cups is normal

How about placing a shim like under the other side of pick-up tube to have a tad more autonomy. Fuel pick up are not that long, as you don't want to suck debris, contaminated fuel at bottom of tank specially if you never clean tanks. Besides 1 gallon laying at tank's bottom has a very reduced height. My fuel meter doesn't read anything 1 gal down.

Happy Boating

Plastic tanks have a built in reserve that is saved in back part of the tank by a low wall. Tipping the tank forward allows the fuel to go to the front of the tank to be used. This may be the fuel your seeing.

That I did not know. That's a good thing to know. I will look at mine at once.

Apologies for bringing up an old thread, but this might save me, or someone else, a lot of paddling some day.

Thanks, John
