Hello. I was wondering if anybody has used a 66hp turbo yanmar diesel on a OMC cobra outdrive? I currently have a 5.7 that is burning blue smoke in a 25' cadorette that weighs 5500 lbs. I already have the diesel and am wondering what kind of speed i would get out of this motor. I am not looking for much speed somthing around 15to 18 mph. Is this possible?

Ayuh,... I doubt the drive would take it....

It's geared for a V8 spinnin' 4800rpms, at 260hp...

Yer diesel won't spin that fast, 'n of course, don't have that power...

You'd have to replace Everything from the pulleys to the prop...

Rayman: I think you'd be down around 7 knots with that engine. I just pulled my diesel out and I'm putting in a 5.7 gasser cause I couldn't take the slowness. Although I'm sure the Yanmar would be great on fuel.

I'm with Luhrs and Bondo. Top speed will be below 10 MPH. I don't even think the fuel efficiency would be all that good unless you ran her around 5 MPH. Max speed would be at a very inefficient point. You cant replace 230+ hp with 66 hp and expect much even if she was geared and propped properly.
