I'm putting a GM 6.2 in my Luhrs 28 right now. I have a thread going over in the Resto section.

I agree it's not a huge powerhouse but if it's fuel economy you're after it's a very good choice. Plus if you have decent mechanical skills you can do the installation yourself for far far less $$ than people generally think.

I would wonder why you don't use a 6.5 with a turbo charger. Not only would you get more power if needed but a turbocharged diesel is ALWAYS more fuel efficient than N/A diesel.....especially at higher power settings where you would almost always be over fueling (and producing clouds of black smoke)

For the original poster, It's VERY questionable that the 6.2, 6.5 or any other big block engine would even fit where the current tiny little(190-200hp) 4.3L engines are now.....

They might fit but the lower HP (of a 6.2L....which weighs as much as a 454!!:eek:) and additional weight would translate into MUCH worse performance.
