Gas Valve

I have a little Johnson 2hp (2r74e). Tried to start yesterday and as soon as I went to turn on the fuel shut off valve it leaked like crazy too much to start it. My question is there a seal, or washer in that little valve somewhere. I know they sell replacement gas valves for around 15 bucks but if replacing a little seal, o-ring washer is all it needs I liked to do that first.
Thanks Wes

Re: Gas Valve

You may find that just tightening the nut at the bottom of the valve a little will compress the seal enough to stop the leak.

BTW, one of the benefits of replacing the valve is that you get a new fuel filter built in. Part # 432079 - $13.+/-

Re: Gas Valve

it is just like any other valve, with packing, and a packing nut. when nut is loose or packing dries out the leak. you could probably that it to any HD, or good hardware store, and get new packing. it just a simple brass valve.
