Gascap question

Hello all,
I'm new to the boating world. I recently got a 1989 glassport bowrider that I'm fixing up. It has a 2.5L mercruiser I/O. I'm looking to change out the gas cap that up on the side rail of the boat. Are these things all interchangable?

The one on the boat is pretty much flush mount, and has two little twist ears (sort of like a wing nut's ears), and then there is an o-ring to seal it water and air tight. So I'm assuming I would need something that fully seals like I think most gas caps do. Thing I don't like about this one is that it is old, pitted and a royal pain in the arse to open.

Re: Gascap question

for the most part, yes they are standard.. but there are different types and styles. the main thing is if it will mate up to the filler hose. I have one that has 2 blind holes in it that corresponds to a key with 2 tits on it, the good thing is it makes it harder for someone to mess with. but also means you have to keep up with the key or it is hard for you to open it.. :)
