I have a 1989 Johnson gt 150. After having the lower unit housing replaced I got it back, when it running there is water running from between the lower unit and the shaft housing. Is there supposed to be a gasket there?

Nope no gasket. But it should fit as tight as it did before the repair.
I take it the housing is now not the original?

Probably one of the most often asked questions. Ranks right up there with "Motor won't crank".

Any water that comes out there has gone through the engine and done its job and is on it's way back to the sea anyway. Don't give it a second thought. In fact, if you look closely you will see a drain hole (or holes) that deliberately drain the same area.

Thanks for the feed back. Yes it was a different lower unit. Running great, looking forward to going fishing next week. First time this summer
