Gasket/seal between aluminum seals on riveted boat

I'm in the process of a boat re-do (starcraft) and am replacing the rivets. In between the joints is a black paper like gasket. Once the rivets are removed I was going to remove what is left of this seal as in some areas it's no longer in place. Before I put it back together is there something I should put in between the joints, or can I leave it out? My plan is to powder coat the hull so it will be exposed to a 400? oven cure.

don't even think about it. that heat will kill any of the sealant on the rest of the hull. Gluvit is the only sealant that I have used. silicone can be used as a temp patch but it will have to be watched!!! I don't know how powder coat will work with aluminum, it is dificult to get a good bond with oxidized alum.

Are you planning on doing all the rivets? Do you have any Clecos?

Yes all rivets will be replaced, but I'm going with SS truss machine screws and nylocs. I do not have Clecos. My options as far as sealing the seams would be JB weld, or something like sikaflex sikasil high temp.
