If that was the case, it isn't anymore. There were a many states in the south that had waivers after Katrina but not anymore. Another thing, if the stations blended it themselves, how could you possibly control the octane. Since ethanol increases octane, you wouldn't have the octane advertised on the pump.

is just baught a flex fuel f150. there was a tag in it that stated about poorer mpg depending on alcohol grades

I have a flex fuel caravan. The book states that more maintenance is needed, more frequent oil changes, fuel filter changes, and parts in the emission system. Also mileage will be lower.

If it's such good fuel, why is it so hard on everything?

The biggest problem around for E15 is the mythology.

Then you had better read your engines owners manual... If it is a MERC, it says anything over 10% is not recommended... Even on my 2007 6.2 HO
