boat just serviced and tech said rpms are accurate. i am running 6000 rpm which seems high to me and mph gauge is at 18mph at full throttle. I have a 25 hp 4 stroke on a 16ft bass tracker.

How long have you owned the boat? A 16 footer with a 25 HP seems to me to be a little underpowered, but if you look at my signature, you will know why. It may take all she's got to get 18MPH, got a buddy with a GPS? Bring him and the gadget out on a test drive.

I have a 13 foot boat with a 15hp on it and all I get at full noise is about 20mph....

Give me the prop pitch and diameter and I'll plug the numbers into my prop calculator and I'll see what it says... (also a rough year of the engine).
