i was thinking the other day and i was wondering i should put a spedo or a tach or something to tell me what is going on with the engine or anything. so how would you go about wiring or should i say installing a spedo. remember 1957 fiberglass boat. 25 hp sea king. i know how to wire just about anything!!!

Thanks,

Re: Gauges

i'd go for a tachometer first. that can tell ya much more than a speedo can about your engine.

if ya want to know yer speed. use a gps. boat speedos are notorisly inaccurate........

Re: Gauges

i don't have a speedo. i've got most every other gage. my aftermarkets are a cd player and a vhf. next i'd think about a fish finder, depth gage. some of them can tell ya speed too it seems. with the advances in gps technology. i can't see drillin holes in my boat to put a speedo on that don't read proper. there are other ways. if ya really gotta have one. i think ya'd need to mount the pilote'(spelling) tube to the transom + run the line up to the dash + install the gage and connect every thing. a gps. ya just turn it on...........& their most accurate......like plotting accurate.......
