gear case lube for 64 evinrude 5.5 ???

I have a 64' evinrude 5.5 hp fisherman. On the motor it says to use omc type "C" gear case lube. A local boat dealer said type "C" wasn't made anymore and he gave me hi-vis. From what I hear I need to get omc premium blend. Does anyone know what I should use?? The boat dealer argued with me that it needed hi-vis, but I'm not sure. The model number on the motor is 5402B. Any info would help and where can I get omc premium blend? Can I get it from Wal-Mart?

Hi, Tomcat.<br /><br />You need to remember that the instructions on your engine are 50 years old.<br /><br />Except for the electric and electro-hydraulic shifting engines (not including any 5.5HP engines) all outboards now use the "standard" 90W hypoid oil sold in tubes as Outboard Gearcase Oil.<br /><br />Good luck.
