I've noticed gear case oil leaking out of my propeller after i've flushed the motor not alot but it's leaving a small puddle of oil. Was black in color however it's now gone milky.I changed the gear lube about a year ago.The motor seems to run ok otherwise. Is this a big job to fix?. What parts would i need etc. Any help will most appreciated.

Could be just exhaust oil leaking out Dendy. Nothing to worry about. Check the gear lube on a regular bases. If oil is getting out, then water is getting in. Change the lube and take it out for a day. Check the lube. If it's milky or there is solid indication of water in the gear case, then a repair of is needed.

Big job???? If the shift rod oring is leaking, the lower unit will have to come apart to replace it. If it's the prop shaft seals, just the bearing carrier will have to be taken out. Seals under the water pump, should not be a big job.

But if there is a need to change out any of the seals, I have found it best to just do them all.

I have the same exact motor.

I found on mine that when you pull out the prop housing with the two bolts, there's a large o-ring that had flat sides. Changed it out, no more leaks.

Unfortunately I had to get the rings from the dealer, but they were cheap (.65).
