I was pressing out the old u-joints from the gear-end yoke for my Mercruiser 1 drive, and managed to slightly bend one of the 'ears' on the yoke.

It is only slightly bent, so I think I could straighten in back out. But, would this greatly affect the strength of the cast part??

I will probably buy a new one...it's not so much the money...I just want to get on the water soon!!

Thanks

I've read, There is never enough time to do it right the first time. There always enough time to do it right the second time!

Re: Gear-end yoke

i don't know the ramifications of straightening it if ya can and useing it. but if it were my boat, i'd not use it. ya will be opening yerself up for more work to R&R it though..... i think i payed about $90 for one this last fall for my 165hp L6.... + some extra $'s for tools i didn't have to do the deed....
