Gear Lube Monitor Hose

I have a 2002 Apha 1 and the gear lube monitor hose has a small crack and leaking right behind the bell housing. I would like to replace it without removing the outdrive and bell housing. Is that even possible? Another thought was to cut the hose in the center and insert a smaller diameter hose inside it and clamp it at both ends to get me through the season. Any thoughts or guides would be appreciated.

Ayuh,..... Welcome Aboard,..... If that hose is rotten, All of the rest of the rubber parts in there, are about to Fail,.....

Do the transom reseal, 'n be done with it,....
