1995 Sea Ray. Mercruiser Alpha One Gen 2, 4.3L V6.
I've been doing some work on my outdrive which required draining the gear oil. While I was at it, I removed the reservoir, drained the oil out of it, and found a bunch of build up in it. Disassembled the whole thing and cleaned it out. Went to reassemble it today and realized I don't know which side is up on the float. There's a small metal band on the inside of the float that contacts the sending unit post. Not sure if that metal band should be towards the top or towards the bottom.
Any help here? I've scanned my maintenance manuals and can't find the answer.
