Gear oil

Hello,

I'm trying to determine if I have the correct gear lube in my outdrive. It should be Volvo GL-5 75 W 90. A local marine mechanic said it should be yellow. Is that correct? The color in my outdrive is brown.

To me it looks more clear then yellow. Definitely not brown.

it’s brown because it needs changed and might have water in it
