Hey fellas new here nice to meet you all!! So I have a Mercruiser 3.0 1993 with a bad outdrive 🥺 sad I know but where I live outdrives are HUGE!!! Money. I was able to source one from a friends dad that owns a junk yard. He sold me a whole outdrive for decent money my problem is the gear ratio in my old one is 1.94 the new one says it’s a 2.0R the serial number on the new one is 0M412490. My old unit does not have a serial number legible so my question is can use this new outdrive even though it says in all the mercruiser files the new fits 98+? On my 93 and not have to worry about .08 difference in gear ratio??

Your old 1.94:1 drive has an upper housing gear tooth count of 20:24 and a lower housing tooth count of 13:21.
The new (2:1) drive has an upper housing tooth count of 24:24 and a lower housing tooth count of 14:28.

Whilst overall it makes very little difference, if you need to source parts in the future, be aware of those tooth counts.

The difference between 1.94 and 2 is around 3%, so your maximum revs at WOT will increase by about that. If you were at 4600, then you'll now be at 4700. To my mind, if you have to move in a direction, more revs is better. Reduces the load on the engine...
