Gear Ratios for 383 SBC

Just out of curiousity If I built up a 383 CI small block V8 was wondering what kind of lower unit ratio I'd need. The boat has a 290 drive. I currently have the 1.61:1 single prop lower on it. How would that perform? If I switched to DP would you choose a 1.95:1 or 1.78:1?

In your boat, with the stroker, I would stick with the SP. But if I had to pick one, I'd go with the 1.78. I've toyed with the idea of the 383 myself, but my 350 runs so well...
