Gearcase Interchange Question

I have a 1973 Evinrude 115HP.Model #115393m.Will a gearcase from a 1979 Johnson fit?I've looked in the archives and there is a thread for a 1977 Johnson to my engine so I was hoping 2 years wouldn't make a difference.I really need to get my old boat (1973 Manatee) up an running!

Nah. You have a hydro-mechanical gearcase on the 1973. Much different beast than any other lower unit, including the "logic" on the shift rod which is reversed from other lower units.
