IS it hard to replace single or double seal .and should i go deeper to sotp the leak? When i changed the gear oil it was gray . so it had water in it so i drained it and put new in . I removed the propeller to see if it had fishing line wrapped in it there was nothing. So out came the book. The motor is a 120 hp v4 1994. I all so ran the motor for about ten mins it was leaking .slowly

The prop shaft seals can be replaced without dropping the lower unit. Remove prop, pull bearing carrier, replace seals back to back, replace o ring, & re-assemble. Pretty simple job. Do you have a manual?

Mako....could you actually see the gear lube coming from the seals or was it just wet around the seal? Putting an air test on the lower unit would be a very good way to make sure the seal is leaking. Little soapy water around the seal will tell you right now if it's truly leaking. And as Backlash said, you don't have to drop the lower unit to change the prop shaft seals.

A manual would help greatly.
