Ok so first off I know I did it wrong and need to drop the lower unit and redo. What happened was I dropped the lower unit to replace the water pump and put it in neutral. Then read that to reinstall I would need to place in reverse which i did not thinking that the gearcase which was now removed in reverse also. It idles high and I put it into gear for a few seconds and grinding was heard. I am worried I have ruined the lower unit please tell me if I have. If I have not would simply dropping the lower unit and putting them both back into sync fix this. Any help will be greatly appreciated, I know I am an idiot and should have read through the seloc multiple times!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:eek:
