Gel Coat Curing

I recently did some gelcoat repair inside my boat using the Everglass white gelcoat. As per the instructions, I mixed the hardner, put it on, and let it sit a short while, then sprayed the PVA Mold Release on top to ensure total cure. Came out great, but would like more coats to ensure smooth covering. My question is; if I am going to put on multiple layers of gel coat, do I need the PVA after each coat, or just put on the subsequent layers on top of the "tacky" gel coat, then use the PVA for the final coat? Thanks

You only need it for the final coat unless you want to sand one of the layers to make the repair smoother before applying more coats. Any time that PVA or wax is used you will need to sand before the next layer(s).
