Is gel coat repair a DIY proposition? I have a Tahoe Q4 with cracks (2' long) and the boat is less than 2 yr old. Tracker does not warranty gel coat cracks and will not fix. Is the color in the gel coat? I have some experience with resins.
need more info, how did the cracks get there? Or did you just notice them one day.
I am reading 2 foot long cracks!? If that is correct and the boat is only 2 years old, you may have larger problems.
I bought the boat new and there were some small cracks where the swim platform meets the transom on the corner. The dealer said they would have them fixed if I wanted but fearing the cure might be worse than the disease I passed. It was an area about 3" in diameter. Now this area has expanded and I have also several horizonal cracks above the rub rail running to the rear cleat, about 2'.The dealer took good photos and sent them to Tracker but they will not fix. They have a 5yr hull warranty but gelcoat is not covered so now I'm stuck.
Try and post some pics up here so we can see what you are dealing with. If the cracks are just thin spidery stress cracks in the gel coat I wouldnt worry about it, they shouldnt be there on such a new boat but its not worth fixing. If there are serious cracks through the hull then there is a real problem that Tracker should fix for you.
