Gelcoat, anyone?

This past season I removed about twelve inches of gelcoat while doing battle with the wind and rocks. The damage was done to a strake along the forward portion of the hull and is visiable to me when the boat is on the trailer.
How easy is this to fix by myself or would it be bertter to have it done by a pro.
Thanks,
JAL

Assuming the rest of the hull is in good shape and with 12 inches damaged, I'd go with the pro.

Not to hard to fix. This is actually a "resoration topic" and should be moved or re-posted there.

Have gone both ways. Take it to the pro and get the gell coat from your boat's builder. On the bottom you're ok, but decks are hard to match if has any age to it and especially if it has been left out in the sun.
