gelcoat on old fiberglass boat, need advice

Hello, im 15 and im restoring my first boat, a fiberglass rower that was left to me by my grandfather. the gelcoat is gone completely and i was wondering if anyone had any advice or step by step instructions on what i should do. any help will be great. Thanks!

check out www.fiberglass-repair.com this site just helped me with my repairs. be carefull, patient and thuorgh, repairs should be done right the first time not a wish you would have taken more time before project. Check out the slide show it will teach you a thing or two. Good luck and if you need more info just post more. Make shure the wood structure is solid before you glass it.

Thanks, I really need to know how to apply it, if i should sand the fiberglass first.. stuff like that. I have no idea what I'm doing, so any info will be great. Thanks!

Gelcoat is not structural, and is there mainly to provide a nice finish. So if the hull is sound and you want a nice finish back sand and paint it. The one part polyurethane paints can be applied very easy with a roller and foam brush. They provide a very nice finish though are not as durable as two part finishes.
