New to me Monterey with some dings.

Structurally they're sound, nothing flaking or breaking and the hull is dry as a bone. Both are below the waterline. Here's the first.

And, the second.

This one has some cracking nearby that you can see in the picture. Should I sand those off, making the repair bigger, or just force some gelcoat into the cracks?

A long time ago I did body work on cars using Bondo - this will be pretty similar, right? In reading about gelcoat repairs "glass/resin filler, and a gelcoat paste" seems popular. Can someone recommend something I can pick up at the local West Marine? I'd like to get this fixed and drying while the boat is in for manifolds. How long will it take to dry? Like every new boat owner I'm itching to get it in the water.

Thank you

Yep, pretty basic. Take a pick and remove all the loose chips and pieces. Grind with a dremel and wash well with acetone mix up some gelcoat paste with hardener and overfill the gouges. Sand, buff and polish. Should take no more than a couple of hours. West marine will have the gelcoat.

Thanks again! I'll go with the polyester since it's reinforced.

Thanks
