SO I was in the process of running antifreeze through my motor. After all was said and done I was reading the back of the bottle and it said do not use in marine engines. It was an artic ban antifreeze with a burst protection of -50. What is the reason of not using it in my motor? just because it does not have the rust aid or anything like that? Also would it just be because their product gells up? any input would be great. Thanks!!

Re: Gelling Antifreeze?

Get the container and call them up and ask, we could guess why, but that doesn't have much fact in it.

Re: Gelling Antifreeze?

Listen to Don but (Here is the guess because I don't know what product you have) the most likely reasons are that there are toxins that could damage the water when released into a lake. The gel aspect is not an issue. That is what all Propylene Glycol does when it gets cold and common RV and Marine antifreezes are Propylene Glycol. (it's more like a Slurpee than a gel).
If it is an Ethylene Glycol, like a car, it won't gel and is poisonous to animal life.

(That 'but' is kind of like saying don't listen to the stuff before it. I'm going to have to stop doing that before I die) ...but, Listen to Don and call the manufacturer to get real info.
