Looking locally for a generator. Just needing something to power a small window ac and maybe a 13" tv and some lighting. I found a new unopened Coleman powermate 2500 on cl for $200 big concern is that I read online that it only has a 1hr run time. Wtf... Would it take much to hook up a larger tank? Then I found a used coleman 4000 watt powermate. My concern is that its used, probably a short runtime and may be more than I need. I know bigger is usually better but I don't want loud and I don't wanna burn more gas than needed. Lastly I found a used yamakoyo gfh1200 for $100. My concern with this one is that it may be to small for my needs as well as it being used and again run time. Any suggestions? I like the price on the new coleman and think it will work for my needs but that run time is worthless. Just wanting enough for my small window ac, a florescent light and possibly a tv/dvd. I know the tv/dvd totals less than 70 watts. Not sure about the ac and light.

Re: Generator question

Sure you could fabricate a new fuel tank, but its gonna be more difficult than you think. The fuel system on there more than likely s gravity fed so your external fuel tank will need to be mounted higher than the generator, as it has no way to pump fuel up hill.

1 hour doesn't seem right either.

plus you do know about the risks with running a generator on your deck right?
CO is heavier than air, as well as odorlesss, tasteless, and colorless, and it kills many people on boats every year. Just use some caution.
