Think I just bought a 1976 19' Century Sabre, inboard 351W ski boat that I'm sure is in great shape from a co-worker that has own it since 1978. Haven't even looked at it yet but this guy is anal about everything he owns. He had the interior done, rebuilt the motor and V-drive about seven years ago and had it painted a few years ago. It has been kept in his covered boat lift at his lake home since 1982. He wants 1,500 for it and a trailer. I am going to ride my motorcycle four hours tomorrow to check it out and if it is as nice as I'm sure it is he will deliver it for me.
any body familiar with the Sabre model???? I'm sure I'll be back to this site often looks like this is the place to find lots of people that know boats.
Thanks,
Bucks :D :D :D :D

UU, thanks for replying, I've seen that site. I saw an Aradian model yesterday for sale locally which is the same hull but with an I/O set up. He wants 6 grand for it, which was a nice boat but it is 3,500 more so I'll go with the I/B. Not able to take the 4 hour trip to see it today but pics will be e-mailed today I hope.

I know what you mean about no space on the boat for the essentials. Not much into fishing (yet) but I like going fast and the kids will love sking and tubing. I received the pics of the boat tonight and it looks good from what I can see. Riding down tomorrow for sure to check it out in person and will report back may post pics if I can learn how.

Re: Getting a boat it looks like

Decided not to get boat after seeing it. I believe it is still a great boat for the right person, that person is not me though. Engine and mechanicals were real nice it was clean and purred like a kitten. The floor had a couple soft spots and I also found out that it was a 16' not the 19' interior room is almost nil. Time to continue shopping.

Bucks,

A "direct drive is just that. The engine faces forward and the power exits the back of the engine, straight through a transmission and drive shaft to the prop.

A v-drive has the engine turned around. The power goes forward into the transmission makes a turnaround (V) and then exits via a drive shaft to the prop.

If you are looking for a "true" ski boat. The inboards (not I/O's) are best.
