Getting another boat. Have questions

I 'm looking at a 90' Bayliner Capri open bow 21 footer with a 5.0 V8 (he told me it was a GM motor) and a OMC Cobra outdrive.
The interior will need to be changed but the power house runs good.(on the muffs) didn't get a chance to take it out yet.

The boat is my friends boat and he can't keep it any longer.
I have a few properties I can park the boat and work on it.
He is willing to let me have it as long as I take him out fishing a few times once I get her up and in decent condition.

I was wondering if there is anything else to look out for?

I will be doing a compression test and spark test on it.

Do these hulls have foam that can be water logged?
I do not see any signs of wood rot.

By the look of it the hull doesn't have any scratches just faded by the sun.
I'm just looking for a bigger boat that I can fish on in the bay.
The interior will need to be removed and replaced maybe with just a few folding chairs.

I'll have a few pictures up soon.

Thanks in advance for all the help.

Re: Getting another boat. Have questions

OMC is kinda hard to get parts for but the cobra is the best out of all the OMC for parts.

Any boat that needs a floor, needs stingers, and transom repair as well. They never rot from the top down, always the other way.

Yes the boat will have foam and it will be slightly wet if a 1990. But you should really weight the boat. You do it on the trailer, then launch the boat, and weight just the trailer, then subtract. Make sure it is close to specs.

A test drive is needed as you never know of other problems. The floor, transome, and stringers are what you need to check, and also for water in the oil, cracked / patched block, etc....

Buy hey for free, why not.!!!!

Yeah since it's free why not?
This would be my first I/O.
The dash says 130 hours.
The motor looks to be in good condition, minimal rust.

What would I need to do to get this baby going?
Re-grease all the parts?
Everything seems to work so far.
He has taken it out twice in 7 years!
I went with him the second time and that thing hauls *****.
I'll take it on test drive and see how it goes.
