I have a 2002 Mercruiser 4.3 220hp I/O. There is no hour meter on the boat which seems odd to me. I thought I heard somewhere that somewhere in the electronics of the engine control, the hours are recorded. Has anyone heard of this? Is there a way to extract the hour information from the engine control?

That is not an outboard, moving to IO forum.

If you find someone with a Techmate scan tool, and the have the proper adapter, it will read the Thunderbolt V module for hours run.

You would need to either buy a scan tool like what is in this link And also the adapter kit to make it work, Or next time you have the boat in for service see if they have the tools to look it over for you.;):)
