I am upgrading the hp on my boat and have a 1987 Johnson 150 I'm putting on. Assuming no catastrophic problems with the motor what should I check, flush, fill, replace etc. so that the motor lasts and I don't get any unpleasant suprises on the water?

All suggestions appreciated. :D

make sure your boat is rated for that horse power, if so, how long has the engine been sitting, you may want to consider , w/p and stats, flush the fuel system, and do a general go over over the engine including compression and fire, check and change you gear oil as well, is it still oil injected, and been sitting draining the carbs and flushing them with fresh fuel might be a helper too.

good luck and keep us infoed
