getting mercury 7.5 1973 started

I have noticed upon disassembly that the ignition coils are both cracked. Has anybody had any luck in sealing up the cracks and reusing them? Just curious as to how one would go about doing this. I want to get my outboard running and I can see that both coils have cracks in the inner plastic and I can see carbon tracks leading to ground. So I am getting a very weak spark.

The only fix to cracked coils is to replace them

I've tried epoxy as a temp fix. It does not work. Scrap 'em.
