Hey leafs...howya doin'?

Did ya' winterize the engine before the cold air set in?

If not, here's what I'd do.

Change out lower unit gear lube and pay attention to what comes out. Is there any water or does it look milky. If either, have the lower unit check for leaks at the seals.

If you did not add gas stabilizer to the gas before putting the engine up for winter, get rid of the old and start with new.

If all is well with the lower unit, and you got good gas, run the engine on muffs and shoot her full of de-carb. Let it set as instructions on the can say and then blow her out.

When was the last time you put a new set of spark plugs in? Might be a good time to replace them.

Take a good gander at all the fuel lines and wiring. If fuel lines are hard and not flexible, replace them. If there are any chaffed or bare wires, fix them.

If all looks well, take her out and have a great summer!!!!!

I would add this to your list before you do any cranking.Remove all plugs taking note of which wires go to which plugs.Squirt some fogging oil in each spark plug hole.Put the plugs back in and come back tomorrow and remove plugs again squirt more fogging oil and the crank motor. This will be very good for the motor in any event, especially if you are not sure if it was winterized properly. Put the plugs back in,connect the wires and crank. CC

Hey, Outboard Jim being that' 1976 motor and shooting full of de-carb, no harm to gasket's,seal's ect from de-carb. Just wondering if any way chunk of carbon came loose could hurt anything??
