Has anyone tried this "getting paid for surveys" thing? Is it a scam?

They want anywhere from $25 to $35 to join their group. All you have to do is fill out surveys from various companies that will in turn pay you for it.

Sounds too good to be true...Opinions?

I would like to do something at home part time.
The wife is taking a second job.
I would also like a second job, but that would leave both of us away from the children too long.
A work at home job is my only choice.

I do OK on EBay during the yard sale season. I also make some tooling for boats which I sell, but I don't get to do that often enough.

H.

There is a company in our neck of the woods that pays you to come in and try new products, mostly taste testing. It takes about 1 hour and pays from 50$ to 75$. Once I got to test beer. They gave me a six pack to take home and drink, it paid 75$. You cant beat that!! :D They call us to come in about once a month.

There are such deals available, but if you have to send money to them in advance, it is a ripoff. My wife and I used to get paid for going to a restaurant, and having a couple of drinks, and a steak dinner from the menu. We paid, and was refunded the money, plus a small fee for performing the service, then we had to keep track of the exat times we had contact with any personell, exactly what was said, and had to repot on every thing that took place in our ear/sight field, with us and other patrons. Places like Ruby Tuesday, Applebys, and other such steak houses. We did it for awhile, but finally quit, as it was too stressfull, and not enjoyable, when you had to record, and file a report for every little detail, from the time you parked in the parking lot, untill you left the parking area. Had to report on conditions of the parking lot, landscaping, visit and report on the restrooms, had to document everything. Sounds like a real deal, but it is not worth the hassell, and the meal was never very enjoyable. If you are interested in this type of work, it is available, and I maybe could locate the people to get in touch with, if I still have any of the paperwork. they also had people taking exit surveys outside of businesses, such as walmart, or k-mart. :D :D

H,

Focus on trying to build your eBay business. It can be done if you focus....

You should also join thier trading assistant network so you can help other people sell and make money while you try to build your own supply chain.

Trading Assistant network?

Do you have more information on this or a link?

Actually, I would really like to get into wholesaling on EBay. I know a lot of people do it, but I have no idea where to start.

H.

I think most of these types of interests are scams of just not worth it, if you have to pay something up front.

Luckily, I have been involved with a financial consulting group will hire you for consulting on IT issues or pay to take surveys.

I usually pass on the consulting because I'm not familiar with the subject and don't want to BS my way through. I do take the market studies surveys and have been paid $50-100 for 5-25 minutes of "work".

A suggestion would be taking eBay to the next level. If you get an idea on what stuff sells for, scout second-hand shops, or check retail (Best Buy, Target) for closeouts or returned merchandise that has a good mark down. I knew a guy to used to buy returned satellite tv systems and re-sell it piecemeil for much more money.

Good Luck
