I have an '87 Starcraft Medalist, 19 ftr. that I'm getting ready to sell. The boat is in fine shape, except for some cosmetic issues which i'll take care of. Problem is, it's powered by a 3.0 0MC Cobra. The engine & drive have no major issues, in face it fired right up the first time this season without a problem. With the rep that OMC's have, I'm wondering how much of a problem I'll have in selling it. I haven't run any ads yet. What do you guys think?

Re: Getting ready to sell

OMC Cobra didn't have a bad reputation that I'm aware of. Just a lot of old wives tales by MerCruiser enthusiasts. Cobra was a fine product. Volvo Penta more or less adopted the newest incarnation. The Cobra SX and Volvo Penta SX are identical twins. But yours isn't an SX. Being obsolete will make it a little tougher to sell, but rumors of parts unavailability and places not willing to repair them are highly exaggerated. The older Stringer is a different story. Those are somewhat worthy of the bad rep.

here's what i believe is the same boat, but with the 4.3L. it belongs to one of our members, place on ebay Saturday, at a starting bid of 1200. 25 bids later you'll see the price, with days to go. it is in immaculated condition. Ebay number 250120383194

Yep, it's the exact same boat, except mine has the 3.0.
