I've decided that the inconvenience and the risks involved outweigh whatever "benefits" there are in hanging on to a twenty + year old suspect system that I am currently having problems with.

I'd appreciate any help on the best way to do this ...

Problems I'm having are outlined on my other current topic involving my 1996 Johnson 130 with VRO problems.

Disconnect the tank from the motor and cap the oil line fitting at the motor. Disconnect the tank sensor from the motor. Take the tank out of the boat then unplug the fuel pump harness and go to pre mix.

How should I cap the oil line fitting at the motor, and will I run into any warning signals because of disconnecting the harnesses and sensors?

Put a rubber cap over the oil fitting on the fuel connector and secure it, this must be done. If you disconnect the correct harnesses you will be fine.

Okay .... I see two wires, one wire black, the other tan&black running into the engine from the oil tank. They go into a connector near the motor with two similar wires coming out the other side of the connector. I will disconnect that. Is that the tank sensor connector?

What does the fuel pump harness look like and what do you unplug it from?

On the electronics side of the vro/oms will be four wires going into a rubber plug...simply unplug that...nothing more than that.

NOTE: the fuel pump is mechanical not electrical....the pigtail is for the NO-OIL warning system that is all. It doesn't make the pump work.

Yes those are the tank wires. Follow the wires from the small end of the fuel pump to where they plug into the harness. There are 4 wires coming out of the pump.

You guys are freakin' incredible. Many thanks for saving me a lot of time & aggravation.

You know, sometimes I really wonder about how badly The Internet is affecting the younger generation, ... and I could go on about that topic ad nauseum. I really wish that they had the wisdom of years that would allow them to avoid the kinds of Social Media that cause hard feelings and turn people against each other.

And then I see sites like this that are about people helping people ... and i have to reconsider.
