I have a 1992 130 yamaha. It runs great. I noticed when I put the boat on the trailer and walked around the back I touched by the exhaust at midsection. I got shocked. I started touching all the outside of the motor and was getting shocked. Any suggestions. Thanks

if your getting shocked with the engine running then look for chafed wires at the CDI outputs, ign coils, plug wires or a chafed white wire, the kill circuit will have over 150V on it when running.
while technically this is a DC voltage the rise and fall times will make it act like an AC voltage.

The engine was off when I felt it. The battery was still connected but the engine was not running.

then I would hunt for loose, corroded connectors and battery cables. you can also have a hull bonding issue depending on what electronics are onboard.
what your feeling is your body completing the battery ground path.
using your digital multi meter hook one end to the battery negative terminal, take the other lead to various ground points on the engine. you should get a 0 V reading. anything higher will indicate a potential difference and must be eliminated.
also remember most DVM's tend to wander at low voltage readings.
dont confuse a normal display wander for an acutal issue.

Is it possible it was just grounded and it was a normal static shock? Being off the boat and not running, that is the only cause I can see happening.
