I did the best searching I could and lots of folks talked about 'shift dogs' and motors 'kicking up' like they had hit something but my problem is a little different I guess. It's a 1963 10hp Johnson and it runs just fine at any RPM in forward, stays in neutral when I want it to, but when I snap it into reverse and start to come onto the throttle it will slip out of reverse but not fully into neutral. It gets caught in the middle and grinds away, not enough to kick it into neutral though. When I try and hold it into reverse I can feel it trying to force it out of gear. I wish there was some kind of adjustment I need to make but sounds like something is worn or worse, broken. Ideas/help? Thanks in advance.
